University of Vienna invites applications for a University Assistant Praedoc in Sanskrit Philosophy. You join Prof. Elisa Freschi's team, work on a dissertation in Sanskrit philosophy, and contribute to research projects, teaching, and administration at the Department of Philosophy.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree in Sanskrit philosophy (in philosophy/religion/South Asia with Sanskrit focus)
• Outstanding achievements in studies
• At least intermediate knowledge of Sanskrit and willingness to improve
• High level of written and spoken English
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• IT skills incl. word processing, PowerPoint, study administration or willingness to learn them
• Organizational and teamwork skills
• Team player with social skills for co-edited volumes and co-organised events
• Reliable and able to meet deadlines
• Initial academic work and research organization experience
• Teaching experience and e-learning experience
• Knowledge of university procedures and structures
• Knowledge of other areas of philosophy including Sanskrit philosophy
• Experience abroad
• German knowledge or willingness to acquire within 3 years for teaching and committees
• Desirable: knowledge of Maṇipravāḷam, Tamil, Bengali, or Tibetan

Aufgaben

• You work on your dissertation and its completion
• You are involved in research projects, conferences, research organization tasks and teaching
• Finalize your dissertation agreement within 12 to 18 months
• You hold courses independently within collective bargaining provisions
• You supervise students in your area(s) of competence and assist with examinations
• You contribute to organisation and content of conferences, publications, and academic projects
• You take on administrative tasks in research and teaching as well as in the department
