The University of Vienna invites applications for a University Assistant Praedoc in the research area of Sanskrit Philosophy. You will join Prof. Elisa Freschi's team, work on a dissertation within Sanskrit philosophy, and participate in teaching and administration in the Department of Philosophy.

The position spans 4 years, with an initial 1.5-year term that may extend to 4 years. Start date early 2027 is anticipated, with opportunities for international collaboration and professional

Qualifikationen

• Completed Master's degree in Sanskrit philosophy.
• Outstanding achievements in previous studies.
• At least intermediate knowledge of Sanskrit and willingness to improve it.
• High level of written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• IT skills, especially word processing, PowerPoint, study administration programs and e-learning, or willingness to learn them.
• Organizational and teamwork skills.
• Team player with high social skills for collaborative projects.
• Reliable and able to commit to goals within deadlines.
• Initial academic research experience and research organization.
• Teaching experience and experience with e-learning.
• Knowledge of university procedures and structures.
• Knowledge of other areas of philosophy including Sanskrit philosophy.
• Experience abroad.
• German knowledge or willingness to acquire language within 3 years.

Aufgaben

• Work on your dissertation and its completion.
• Involvement in research projects, conferences, and teaching.
• Finalize your dissertation agreement within 12–18 months.
• Teach courses under collective bargaining guidelines.
• Supervise students and assist with examinations.
• Contribute to conferences, publications, and academic projects.
• Handle administrative tasks in research and teaching.
