Tecan Austria GmbH in Austria is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (w/m/d) to develop optical laboratory devices for medical technology. You will design mechanical concepts and support the product portfolio including microplate readers and imaging solutions.

You will create 3D designs, drawings, and technical documentation, prepare production documents for prototyping and manufacturing, and collaborate with software, electronics, physics teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Solid experience in mechanical design and precision engineering.
• Solid knowledge of 3D CAD, ideally PTC Creo and PTC Windchill.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, measuring techniques, and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with rapid prototyping and 3D printing.
• Hands-on, structured, and solution-oriented working style.
• Experience in medical devices, robotics, or other high-precision products is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts and support the further development of our product portfolio of microplate readers, washers, optical modules and imaging solutions for microbiology.
• Create 3D designs, drawings, and technical documentation
• Prepare production documents for prototyping and manufacturing
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams such as software, electronics, firmware, optics, and motion control
• Clarify technical requirements with suppliers and support implementation
• Contribute to robust, cost-effective, and manufacturable design solutions
