Job summary

MED-EL Medical Electronics in Innsbruck, Austria, seeks an R&D Engineer (m/f/d) to advance mechanical and biomedical development through 3D CAD modeling, simulations, and prototyping. You will contribute to design optimization and experimental validation to drive medical device innovations.

The role requires a Master’s degree and hands-on experience with COMSOL Multiphysics, FEM, CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, CATIA or NX) and MATLAB/Python, plus strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Comput. Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics or related field.
Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics, FEM and numerical simulations.
CAD proficiency: SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, CATIA or NX; MATLAB and/or Python knowledge.
Experience in force measurement technology, lab instrumentation, prototyping and experimental validation.
Strong analytical and communication skills; excellent written/spoken English.

Responsibilities

Develop and optimize 3D/CAD models for numerical simulations, prototyping, and technical applications.
Execute multiphysics simulations using COMSOL Multiphysics, including model setup, meshing, and result validation.
Design and evaluate force sensing and measurement systems, including calibration, data acquisition, and analysis.
Support R&D projects through numerical analyses, experimental investigations, data evaluation, and technical solution development.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners; prepare and present technical documentation and results.
