Job summary

Scalable Capital in Austria is seeking an experienced infrastructure engineer to own the runtime and operations of mission-critical, real-time trading systems. You will work across cloud and on-premises environments, focusing on performance, reliability, and secure deployment workflows.

Candidates bring hands-on AWS, Linux, containers, and networking expertise, plus a pragmatic approach to observability, IAM, and tail-latency optimization.

Qualifications

• University degree in CS, engineering, or equivalent practical background.
• Experience with dedicated host strategies and low-latency networking.
• Proven track record owning production infra for distributed or real-time systems.
• Strong hands-on AWS experience: EC2, VPC, IAM, KMS, S3, SQS, SNS.
• Networking expertise: routing, DNS, load balancers, service connectivity.
• Terraform and infra lifecycle management.
• Deep knowledge of Linux, containers, and host-level performance tuning.
• Experience with tail-latency sensitive workloads.
• Experience with stateful services, failover, and controlled cutovers.
• Analytical thinking and clear cross-team communication.
• Nice to have: Rust-based services; regulated/high-reliability environments.

Responsibilities

• Own infrastructure end to end across cloud and physical environments, including AWS, Linux hosts, networking, containers, and runtime operations.
• Design and improve infrastructure for performance-sensitive services, supported by benchmarks for throughput and tail latency.
• Design, operate, and troubleshoot network paths across VPCs, routing, security groups, load balancers, DNS, and service connectivity.
• Build and improve infrastructure as code, host lifecycle management, and deployment workflows.
• Improve reliability, failover, recovery, and operational safety across Linux runtimes, containers, serverless workloads, and event-driven flows.
• Harden platform capabilities around IAM, KMS, secrets, service connectivity, and secure operational access.
• Raise observability through dashboards, alerting, tracing, health checks, and incident tooling.
• Partner with software engineers on reusable infrastructure patterns, production readiness, CI/CD, and incident response.
