Job summary

BAWAG Group is seeking a QA Engineer to prevent defects and embed quality from day one. You will join a cross-functional team, write code, and leverage AI to expand test coverage. Build and extend our AI-driven QA pipeline, shaping test plans, cases and Gherkin specs with care.

You’ll contribute to test automation, API testing, and CI/CD quality gates while focusing on edge cases and real user journeys. Vienna office-based role with strong development expectations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in QA with a strong automation focus.
• Playwright: built and maintained E2E suites, selectors, fixtures and parallel execution.
• SQL: write queries, validate data at the source.
• AI-assisted testing: actively use AI tools in daily work
• Angular applications: test at component and E2E level.
• Java/TypeScript: comfortable reading and writing.
• REST APIs: testing, HTTP, auth flows and JSON schemas.
• CI/CD: familiarity with Jenkins-based pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain automated test suites (E2E, integration, regression).
• Write and execute test strategies for Angular frontends and Java backends.
• Build and own CI pipeline quality gates; prevent broken builds from reaching staging.
• Perform API testing (REST, Postman/Newman, contract testing).
• Contribute to test data management and environment stability.
• Conduct exploratory testing focused on edge cases and user journeys.
• Triage defects, reproduce issues, communicate impact clearly.
• Champion quality practices across the team.
