Software Data Service (SDS) in Austria–Vienna seeks a Java Developer (m/f/d) to build scalable fintech software. You’ll lead technical decisions, coach peers, and optimize architectures while collaborating with international teams. Requires 5+ years in Java and strong Spring/Hibernate skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in Java development, ideally in fintech or banking.

Tasks

As a Java Developer (m/f/d), you will work on innovative software development projects in an international fintech and banking environment. You develop modern, scalable applications and actively contribute your technical knowledge to our agile team. You will take responsibility for technical decisions, coach junior developers and optimize existing architectures. Your tasks: Development of new features and development of existing applications based on customer and business requirements. Work in agile, cross-functional teams with developers, testers, product managers, and business analysts. Involvement in architectural decisions and continuous technological development. Collaboration in the development and optimization of interfaces (APIs, microservices). Conducting code reviews, pair programming and mentoring junior developers. Using modern CI/CD pipelines and automation tools to optimize the development process. Close collaboration with international teams and technical coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Your profile

• Completed degree in computer science, business informatics or comparable technical education — alternatively, verifiable professional experience in software development.
• Several years of experience (min. 5 years) in Java development, ideally in the banking sector or fintech environment.
• Profound knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate and relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with modern architecture concepts (microservices, REST, messaging systems such as Kafka).
• Safe use of version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is an advantage.
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.
• You are familiar with agile development methods (Scrum, Kanban).
• Analytical thinking, solution-oriented work and a structured way of working.
• Ability to work in a team, self-motivation and strong communication skills.
• Very good written and spoken German and English skills.

Employment & Compensation

• To support our team, we are looking now and full-time (38.5 hours per week).
• The minimum salary under the collective agreement is €55,356 gross per year (on a 38.5 hour basis).
• We also offer a market-compliant overpayment depending on qualifications and previous experience.
