Kapsch TrafficCom is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer in Vienna to design, develop, and test embedded V2X and GNSS software. You will translate customer requirements into scalable platform capabilities and contribute to robust system design.

We expect 5+ years in embedded software with expert C/C++ skills, Linux experience, and familiarity with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and Docker. German language skills are a plus, English required, and a market-competitive salary is offered.

Role Purpose

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and test high-quality embedded software, translating customer and product requirements into reliable, scalable platform capabilities that support next-generation V2X and GNSS technologies.

• Design, develop, and validate embedded V2X and GNSS software and supporting development tools.
• Implement high-quality, maintainable, and reusable code following best practices for embedded systems.
• Collaborate with product management and design teams to translate user needs and product requirements into scalable platform capabilities.
• Contribute to system design discussions, ensuring robust, efficient, and extensible solutions.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• A technical degree, preferably a master degree in systems engineering, software architecture, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development and Linux based applications.
• Expert-level proficiency in C and C++ is required; knowledge of IBM Rational Rhapsody is a plus.
• Familiarity with application interfaces for communication protocols, particularly V2X, GNSS, 3G/4G, TCP/IP, BT and LWM2M, is desirable.
• Proven experience in developing testable code, implementing automated unit tests, and working with automated test environments.
• A proactive approach, strong teamwork skills, and effective communication abilities.
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Docker is advantageous, as is familiarity with Kibana and Grafana.
• Business-fluent English is essential; German language skills are an asset.
• Familiarity with agile development processes.
