Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik AG (AT&S) Leoben is seeking a Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and sustain IC substrate manufacturing processes. You will ensure high yield, cost efficiency, and support new product introductions while collaborating with international teams.

The role requires a technical degree and 2+ years in process engineering, with SPC/DOE experience and proficiency in MS Office and data tools. Cleanroom work and travel are expected.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field.
• Minimum 2 years experience as Engineer or Process Engineer in IC substrate or related industry.
• Hands-on experience with SPC, MSA, DOE, FMEA, 8D and 5 Why.
• Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
• Knowledge of project management and continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in MS Office, JMP, Minitab, SAP, APC.
• Fluent in English; German language is an advantage.
• Strong communication and teamwork; willingness to work in a cleanroom and travel internationally.

Process Engineer

In your role as a Process Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, optimizing, and sustaining advanced IC substrate manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for ensuring stable, high-yield, and cost-efficient production while supporting new product introductions and technology developments. Working closely with cross-functional and international teams, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, drive innovation, and help maintain AT&S' position as a technology leader in the semiconductor industry.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop, characterize, and optimize IC substrate manufacturing processes within your area of expertise.
• Define process requirements, evaluate suppliers, and qualify manufacturing equipment and tooling.
• Monitor process performance using statistical process control (SPC) and drive process stability improvements.
• Investigate and resolve process-related issues to ensure high yield, quality, and throughput.
• Design and execute experiments (DoE) to improve process capability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Support new product introductions and the successful ramp-up into high-volume manufacturing.
• Create and maintain process documentation while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams, mentor junior colleagues, and support internal and external audits.

Your Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Engineer or Process Engineer, preferably within IC substrate, semiconductor packaging, electronics manufacturing, or a related industry.
• Hands‑on experience with process improvement methodologies and Six Sigma tools such as SPC, MSA, DOE, FMEA, 8D, and 5 Why.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and problem‑solving.
• Knowledge of project management principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficient in engineering and data analysis tools such as MS Office, JMP, Minitab, SAP, APC, or comparable software.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken; German language skills are considered an advantage.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, willingness to work in a cleanroom environment, travel internationally, and collaborate within intercultural teams.
