Job summary

ams OSRAM, via its Light Sensors & Photonics unit, seeks an experienced professional to supervise manufacturing processes and drive cross-functional collaboration. The role focuses on improving yield, robustness and cost efficiency while managing technology transfer from R&D to production in a fast-paced semiconductor environment.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or PhD in a relevant field and has several years of experience, with strong problem-solving skills and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• Master/PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science or comparable.
• Several years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or similar industry.
• Advanced problem solving skills; Six Sigma beneficial.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and adapt to fast-changing environments.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor manufacturing processes in collaboration with process engineering, RD and QA.
• Maintain process deliveries (FMEA, PCP, Defect Strategy) and lead cross-functional discussions.
• Optimize processes and solve problems to reduce costs, increase yield and improve robustness.
• Evaluate and implement process simplifications and improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Transfer new technologies/process modules from RD into production.
• Take PI responsibility at customer audits and report requested data to key customers.
• Stabilize technologies by supervising lead products.

We are LSP – Light Sensors & Photonics, one of three business units within ams OSRAM, advancing the digitalization of light. At LSP, we go beyond traditional sensing—combining light, silicon, and system expertise to enable digital photonics solutions. Our focus is clear: powering next-generation applications in data centers, AR/VR, mobile and automotive, where light becomes a critical interface for data, perception, and interaction. This evolution marks a shift from components to integrated photonics systems —driving performance, scalability, and innovation in high-growth segments.

• Supervise and monitor manufacturing process in close teamwork with single process engineering, process RD, QA, etc.
• Maintain process deliveries (e.g. FMEA, PCP, Defect Strategy etc.), lead cross-functional discussions
• Optimize processes and solve process problems in close teamwork with different departments (e.g. Test, Product Engineering, Design, Design
  Support, QA, etc.)
• Evaluate and implement possible process simplifications / improvements in order to decrease manufacturing costs, increase process yield and
  improve product robustness
• Transfer new technologies / process modules from process RD into production
• Take PI responsibility at customer audits and for reporting requested data to key customers
• Stabilize technologies by supervising lead products

• Master degree or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Material Sciences or comparable
• Several years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or similar industry
• Excellent technological professional skills (preferably with 180nm or smaller technology node)
• Advanced problem solving skills (beneficial: Six Sigma experience, etc.)
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and willingness to work in a team environment
• Ability to adjust to fast changing environments and project working style to set up new processes
• Fluency in English
