EEMCO GmbH
Ranshofen
EEMCO and FAMETEC are cutting-edge deep-tech spin-offs dedicated to provide resilience and sovereignty of Silicon Carbide and Sapphire single crystals . With proprietary capabilities in the production of high-quality 8-inch substrates , we aim to transform the performance, economics, and scalability of materials powering the future of power electronics, electric vehicles, aerospace and industrial systems.
As we scale from pioneering R&D to industrial-grade mass production, we are seeking a curious, passionate, and empathetic Principle Engineer of Crystal Growth Product Development to lead the productization of our core technology. This is a mission-critical leadership role for an accomplished expert in materials innovation and manufacturing transformation. Someone who not only drives technical excellence but also understands, motivates, and supports a diverse team through collaborative and human-centered leadership.
TASKS
- Lead the end-to-end transfer of silicon carbide and sapphire single-crystal growth technologies from validated R&D concepts into differentiated, production-ready, qualified, and commercially viable products, including substrates, wafers, and optical components.
- Translate customer, application, quality, cost, and volume requirements into clear product specifications, technical requirements, acceptance criteria, and product roadmaps for silicon carbide and sapphire products, including 6-inch and 8-inch substrates, wafers, and application-specific optical components.
- Own productization milestones from feasibility studies and prototype development through pilot production, customer sampling and qualification, to product release and manufacturing ramp-up.
- Collaborate with customers and commercial teams to validate product-market fit, convert technical feedback into prioritized product improvements, and support technical due diligence, sampling, qualification, and market introduction activities.
Engineering Excellence and Process Robustness
- Establish a disciplined product development framework with clearly defined stage gates, design reviews, verification and validation plans, traceable requirements, configuration management, and defined release criteria.
- Define and manage critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics and critical process parameters, including operating windows, control limits, measurement methods, reaction plans, and ownership across the entire value chain, from raw material preparation and single-crystal growth through machining, wafer manufacturing, polishing, optical finishing, inspection, and final product release.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DfM), Design of Experiments (DoE), risk analysis, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and structured problem-solving methodologies to reduce process variation and improve yield, quality, reliability, and cost performance.
- Create the engineering foundation required for repeatable scale-up, including process specifications, manufacturing recipes, control plans, work instructions, qualification protocols, technical change management, and knowledge transfer to manufacturing operations.
- Lead the qualification of equipment, processes, materials, and metrology systems while ensuring data integrity, measurement system capability, process capability, and reproducibility across equipment, shifts, and production sites.
Industrialization and Manufacturing Readiness
- Assess and advance technology, product, and manufacturing readiness levels; identify scale-up risks at an early stage and close gaps related to equipment capability, supply chain, quality systems, capacity, automation, and workforce training.
- Define and deliver measurable ramp-up targets for yield, throughput, cycle time, equipment uptime, quality, reliability, and cost of goods through data-driven reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional product and process reviews with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Equipment Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, and Commercial teams to ensure seamless execution from laboratory development through high-volume production.
Technical Leadership and Organizational Development
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership, establish engineering standards, and foster a culture of ownership, evidence-based decision‑making, rigorous documentation, and continuous learning.
- Coach and develop engineers and production personnel in product development, process control, failure analysis, and industrialization methodologies to ensure critical know‑how is embedded within the organization rather than dependent on individuals.
- Serve as the primary technical interface for strategic customers, equipment suppliers, external development partners, and internal stakeholders throughout product qualification and commercialization activities.
