Job summary

European Tech Recruit seeks a Principal Embedded Crypto Software Developer to drive cryptographic implementations across embedded platforms, including Post-Quantum cryptography, on ARM Cortex-M and RISC-V. You will lead design, code, and security evaluations in collaboration with OS, firmware, and evaluation teams.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in cryptography and embedded security, deep experience with ECC/RSA/AES/SHA-2/SHA-3, and proficiency in Rust; a PhD or MSc is welcome.

Principal Embedded Crypto Software Developer – Cryptography / Embedded Security / Post-Quantum

We are currently partnered with a leading industrial security organisation developing secure cryptographic software for embedded products across multiple application domains. This role focuses on implementing cryptographic algorithms, developing software countermeasures against physical attacks, and providing technical leadership across cryptographic software architecture, integration, evaluation, and certification.

Key responsibilities

• Specify and implement state-of-the‑art cryptographic algorithms across platforms, including Post-Quantum Cryptography.
• Develop secure software based on functional requirements.
• Design and specify software countermeasures against physical attacks including Side-Channel Analysis (SCA) and Fault Injection (FI).
• Collaborate with security architects and internal evaluation teams to enhance software countermeasures.
• Provide technical leadership across cryptographic domains and drive domain evolution.
• Influence architectural decisions and support project planning.
• Collaborate with OS and firmware teams to ensure secure integration of cryptographic software into final products.
• Work with test and platform support engineers to ensure product quality.
• Drive product certification activities and support security evaluations.
• Contribute to cryptographic software across traditional and post-quantum cryptography on ARM Cortex-M and RISC-V platforms.
• Lead technical discussions across architecture, evaluation, firmware, and certification teams.

Key requirements

• BSc, MSc, or PhD in Mathematics, Cryptography, Computer Science, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a relevant discipline.
• 10+ years of relevant industry experience in cryptography and embedded security, or an equivalent combination of advanced degree and relevant experience.
• Strong understanding and implementation experience with cryptographic primitives including ECC, RSA, AES, SHA-2, and SHA-3.
• Experience in Post-Quantum Cryptography.
• Experience with Rust.
