Job summary

The University of Vienna invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in Atmospheric Transport Modelling within the Department of Meteorology and Geophysics. You will join the group that develops FLEXPART and investigates transport of greenhouse gases, pollutants and water vapour, contributing to both research and teaching.

The position is a temporary replacement from 23 November 2026 to 15 March 2027, with flexible hours and potential telework within Austria.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences or a closely related field.
• Data analysis and interpretation should be guided by physical understanding, not solely statistics/AI.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills; excellent command of English.

Responsibilities

• Perform research within the Atmospheric Transport Processes group and related topics.
• Teach independently and co-supervise BSc and MSc theses.
• Publish results in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Collaborate with the department to strengthen the research group.
