Zusammenfassung

CERN is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design, procurement, assembly, testing and installation of mechanical structures for the CMS High Granularity Calorimeter (HGCAL). You will work with advanced materials and manage large-scale assembly and integration activities underground.

Strong experience in 3D CAD (Catia V5), finite element analysis and thermal/structural calculations is required.

Qualifikationen

• Master's Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience performing thermal and structural calculations for complex mechanical structures.
• Proficient in developing mechanical assemblies using 3D CAD.
• Experience with conducting and coordinating testing in multinational teams.
• Willingness to learn French while working in a CERN environment.

Aufgaben

• Coordinate technicians in assembling and testing large steel structures for HGCAL.
• Provide engineering support for CMS detector components and cassettes.
• Integrate electromagnetic and hadronic cassettes into steel structures.
• Oversee integration, cabling, piping and surface testing before underground installation.
• Assist lowering endcaps into CMS cavern and connect services.
