CERN seeks a hands‑on Mechanical Technician to contribute to superconducting radiofrequency cavity improvements and thin‑film coating technologies. You will design, fabricate, assemble and commission mechanical and coating equipment, using 3D CAD and precise machining skills, in a fully onsite role.
You will participate in coating activities, document procedures and support system testing, with opportunities to work with UHV systems and vacuum technologies as part of a multidisciplinary team.
You will join a multidisciplinary team responsible for developing more efficient superconducting radiofrequency (SRF) cavities for future CERN accelerators. In this hands-on role, after dedicated training in the team you will contribute to the improvement of thin-film coating technologies through the design, fabrication, commissioning and operation of physical vapour deposition (PVD) equipment.
