Job summary

Calmar is seeking a hands-on technologist to take ownership of the existing platform and develop it further. You will work closely with our product and design teams, bringing the codebase in-house and shaping architecture across the stack (Vue.js, Nuxt, PHP/Laravel, AWS).

You will own backend architecture, drive automated testing and release processes, and review code for quality and security, collaborating with a small, experienced team in Vienna. Fluency in German and English is required.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience building production web apps, incl. architecture, backend and operations.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS.
• Ability to understand legacy systems and explain technical decisions.
• Hands-on, proactive, and responsible for reliable software.
• Fluent German and English communication with customers and team.

Your role

You take technical ownership of our existing platform and develop it further yourself. Together with our current development partner, you bring the codebase, knowledge and operations into our in-house team. You work closely with our Head of Product & Technology and our Product Designer. Our stack includes Vue.js, Nuxt 3, PHP/Laravel and AWS.

What you will do

• Own the architecture and backend, build new features and run the platform on AWS.
• Set up and improve automated testing, code reviews, monitoring and safe release processes.
• Use AI tools in development and review the resulting code for quality and security.
• Support our Product Designer & Frontend Engineer with architecture and code reviews.

What you bring

• Several years of experience building production web applications, including architecture, backend and operations.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS.
• You get into existing systems in a structured way and can explain technical decisions clearly.
• You enjoy working hands-on, sharing your knowledge and taking responsibility for reliable software.
• Confident communication in German and English, with customers and within the team.

Nice to have

• Experience with PHP/Laravel.
• Experience with Vue.js and Nuxt.
• Experience taking over a codebase from an external agency or partner.

The minimum salary for this full-time position is €60.000 gross per year. We are prepared to offer a higher salary depending on your qualifications and experience.
