Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) in Vienna is seeking a full-time Laboratory Manager for the Ibáñez Group to support day-to-day operations of the chemistry and materials science lab. You will coordinate ordering, safety, training, website updates, and digital tool adoption, while maintaining lab spaces, gloveboxes, glassware, and consumables.

Qualifikationen

• Education in chemistry, materials science, or related field.
• Hands-on lab manager experience in chemistry/materials science.
• Experience managing lab services and infrastructure (gloveboxes, Schlenk lines).
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to work independently.
• Interest in automating administrative workflows and digital solutions.
• Comfort with updating web content and digital communication channels.
• Strong English; German is a plus.
• Proactive, reliable, service-oriented attitude.

Aufgaben

• Coordinate ordering, deliveries, sample shipments, meetings, events, and other group activities.
• Oversee organization and maintenance of shared lab spaces, equipment, gloveboxes, glassware, chemicals, and consumables.
• Coordinate laboratory safety activities with EHS, including chemical management and waste disposal.
• Train new group members in good laboratory practices, safety procedures, and use of shared laboratory infrastructure.
• Learn new laboratory procedures and provide practical support to researchers when needed.
• Maintain the group website and coordinate updates with external providers.
• Manage the group’s social media and support communication activities.
• Explore and implement digital and AI-based tools to improve laboratory and administrative workflows.
• Act as an interface with ISTA Scientific Service Units.
