Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) is expanding its Chemistry Support Facility (CSF) to oversee experimental chemistry operations and a dedicated equipment portfolio. You will supervise a team of four, coordinate with researchers, and drive workflow optimization across instrumentation and services.

The role combines facility management, budgeting, safety compliance, and service development to enable world-class research on the ISTA campus near Vienna.

Qualifikationen

• Advanced degree in Analytical Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, Material Science, or related field.
• Proven track record managing a core facility or similar laboratory environment.
• Hands-on experience with relevant instruments and a broad portfolio of characterization techniques.

Aufgaben

• Manage and oversee operations of the Chemistry Support Unit, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery.
• Lead and develop a team of currently 4 colleagues (experts & lab managers).
• Collaborate closely with researchers on advanced technologies and infrastructure services.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize facility workflows and introduce innovative methods.
• Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation; plan and execute regular maintenance schedules.
• Provide training and user support on instrument use and good laboratory practice.
• Collaborate with administrative units on laboratory planning, regulations, and safety.
• Manage budgets and resources; prepare service quotes and handle project billing.
• Keep updated with advancements in experimental chemistry, integrating relevant innovations into the facility.
• Promote the facility’s capabilities to attract new research projects and foster collaborations.
