ISTA is expanding its Chemistry Support Facility (CSF) and seeks a senior professional to oversee operations, service delivery, and strategic development of analytical chemistry capabilities. You will supervise a small team of experts and lab managers, guiding day-to-day activities and long-term improvements.

The role emphasizes collaboration with researchers, maintaining instruments, ensuring safety and compliance, and budgeting to support world‑class research at ISTA near Vienna, Austria.

Qualifikationen

• Advanced degree in analytical fields with significant experience.
• Proven track record managing a core facility or similar laboratory environment.
• Extensive hands-on experience with analytical instruments and characterization techniques.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations, safety standards, and good practice.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with a diverse research community.

Aufgaben

• Oversee operations of the Chemistry Support Unit, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery.
• Lead and develop a team of currently 4 colleagues (experts & lab managers).
• Collaborate with researchers on advanced technologies and infrastructure services.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize facility workflows and introduce innovative methods.
• Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation; plan and execute maintenance schedules.
• Collaborate with administrative units on lab planning, safety, and regulations.
• Manage budgets and resources; prepare service quotes and handle project billing.
• Keep updated with advancements in experimental chemistry and integrate innovations.
• Promote the facility’s capabilities to attract new research projects and foster collaborations.
