Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) in Klosterneuburg near Vienna seeks a full-time Laboratory Manager to support daily operations and automate administrative workflows. You will coordinate ordering, shipments, events, and safety activities while maintaining shared lab spaces and infrastructure.

The role requires hands-on lab management experience, strong organizational skills, and a proactive, service-oriented approach to supporting a research team.

Qualifikationen

• Education in chemistry, materials science, or related field.
• Hands-on experience as a laboratory manager in chemistry/materials lab.
• Experience managing lab services and chemistry infrastructure (gloveboxes, Schlenk lines).
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Interest in automating administrative workflows and applying digital solutions to daily laboratory operations.
• Comfortable updating web content and using digital communication channels.
• Strong written and spoken English; German is a plus.
• Proactive, reliable, service-oriented approach to supporting a research team.
• Willingness to learn new laboratory, administrative, and digital tools.
• Applications should include a letter of motivation, a CV, and contact information for at least 2 referees.

Aufgaben

• Coordinate ordering, deliveries, sample shipments, meetings, events, and other group activities.
• Oversee the organization and maintenance of shared laboratory spaces, equipment, gloveboxes, glassware, chemicals, and consumables.
• Coordinate laboratory safety activities with EHS, including chemical management and waste disposal.
• Train new group members in good laboratory practices, safety procedures, and use of shared laboratory infrastructure.
• Learn new laboratory procedures and provide practical support to researchers when needed.
• Maintain the group website and coordinate updates with external providers.
• Manage the group’s social media and support communication activities.
• Explore and implement digital and AI-based tools to improve laboratory and administrative workflows.
• Act as an interface with ISTA Scientific Service Units.
