Qualifikationen

• Native Japanese speaker with full command of kanji, hiragana and katakana; furigana and variant forms required.
• Experience in interpretation, transcription, translation, or editorial work on document-intensive material.
• Character-level accuracy is mandatory; must be exact in transcription.
• Systematic and consistent application of taxonomy across pages.
• Comfort with unfamiliar layouts: vertical text, multi-column documents, handwritten forms.

Aufgaben

• Source publicly accessible Japanese PDFs with multimodal elements and record the source.
• Annotate structure by bounding every meaningful region (title, heading, paragraph, list, table, figure, diagram, caption, etc.) and assign a type and reading order index.
• Record relationships by linking regions to their parent figure or table.
• Transcribe faithfully, reproducing all text including kanji, kana, furigana, and handwriting; flag illegible regions.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas and handwriting.
• Review a colleague's work as part of a two-expert review process.
