Enery is seeking an Insurance Risk Manager to lead the renewal cycle, negotiate terms, and align coverage with EPC, O&M, PPA, and financing contracts across Austria and CEE markets.

You will coordinate with brokers, underwriters, and lenders, manage claims end to end, and support M&A due diligence. Strong Excel skills and English proficiency are essential; German and CE languages are a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the annual renewal cycle across Enery's insurance programme — prepare submissions, run tenders, and negotiate terms and pricing directly with carriers as well as through brokers, in all seven markets.
• Challenge broker recommendations and remuneration, bringing transparency to commissions embedded in premiums and ensuring Enery buys the coverage it needs and nothing it doesn't.
• Align insurance coverage with contractual obligations across EPC, O&M, PPA, and financing agreements — moving from an agreement-by-agreement approach to a portfolio-wide view.
• Maintain a liability gap register: identify uncovered exposures, close them through insurance where sensible, and document the rationale where a gap is knowingly accepted.
• Support M&A and project acquisitions by accelerating insurance due diligence, delivering a consistent internal assessment rather than relying solely on advisors with an interest in the outcome.
• Manage claims end to end, from notification through to settlement, and act as the internal point of contact for lenders, EPC contractors, and technical advisors on insurance matters.
• Contribute to broader Group Finance topics beyond insurance, as agreed with the Head of Risk.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Law, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field. A professional insurance qualification (e.g. Versicherungskaufmann/-frau, CII, ARM, or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience at an insurance carrier — underwriting in property, engineering, construction, or liability lines preferred — or in a specialist insurance brokerage. Exposure to renewable energy, infrastructure, or real estate risks is a strong plus.
• Working understanding of how insurance requirements are embedded in commercial contracts (EPC, O&M, PPA) and project finance documentation, or the confidence to build it quickly.
• Professional proficiency in English (C1); German is an advantage. Additional CEE languages (Czech, Slovak, Polish, Bulgarian, Romanian) are welcome but not required.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate external advisors, brokers, and carriers alongside multidisciplinary, cross-border internal teams.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to hold a position against experienced counterparties — brokers, underwriters, lenders' advisors, and EPC contractors — and to translate insurance topics into plain language for internal stakeholders.
• Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, hands-on approach, a high degree of ownership, and a willingness to question established market practice rather than accept it.
• Very good command of Microsoft Excel for premium, exposure, and cost analysis, alongside Word and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within Austria and the CEE region (site visits, carrier and broker meetings). Category B driving licence an advantage.

Statutory notice:

In accordance with the Austrian collective agreement for employees in information and consulting, the minimum gross monthly salary for this full-time position (40 hours/week) is €2.534,74. Please note that this is a legal requirement. Still, your actual compensation will be based on your qualifications and professional experience, and we would be happy to discuss it with you personally.
