UNOPS Vienna-based Global Portfolios Office seeks an ICT Officer to design, implement, test, and maintain software for the CT Travel Programme goTravel. You will write clean code in .NET Core, C#, Angular, and SQL Server, adhering to UN standards and Agile practices.

The Vienna-based Development and Special Initiatives team specifically supports UN partners and Member States in implementing global programs related to the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals, including counter-terrorism initiatives.
Job purpose: This role is responsible for developing, testing, debugging, implementing, and maintaining software applications for the CT Travel Programme, focusing on the goTravel software solution. The ICT Officer will write clean, maintainable code using .NET Core, C#, Angular, and SQL Server, adhering to UN standards and Agile methodologies. Key activities include designing and developing web-based and client-server applications, creating APIs and user interfaces, integrating components, performing various levels of testing, and troubleshooting defects. The position also supports application deployment, configuration, performance optimization, and contributes to the overall improvement of the goTravel platform.
Responsibilities: Contribute to the full lifecycle of application systems, including design, development, testing, debugging, implementation, and maintenance, ensuring adherence to quality standards. Participate in requirements analysis, specification, design, and implementation of solutions, collaborating with users and stakeholders to validate needs. Prepare and maintain technical and user documentation, such as system specifications and release materials, and deliver technical presentations and training. Ensure timely delivery of software solutions and releases, encompassing architectural and technical design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, optimization, and documentation.
Education: A first-level university degree or professional qualification in computer science, information systems, or a related field is required, along with two years of relevant experience. An advanced university degree may substitute for some experience. Formal certifications from recognized ICT industry vendors are desirable.
Work experience: Required experience includes designing and developing web applications using .NET and C#, and proficiency with Git for collaboration and code quality. Desirable experience includes at least two years with modern database systems (MariaDB, SQL Server, etc.), front-end technologies (Angular, CSS, HTML), AI-powered development tools, and Agile methodologies. Experience with the UN system is also desirable.
