Qualifikationen

• Degree in relevant field is required or preferred.
• Several years of experience in strategic procurement, category management, or international logistics management.
• Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics markets (road, ocean, intermodal).
• Experience with international sourcing projects, commercial negotiations, and contract management.
• Experience with Transporeon is an advantage.
• Fluency in English and German (written and spoken); additional languages are assets.

As a Global Category Manager Logistics , you will be responsible for developing and implementing global and regional sourcing strategies for transportation and logistics services. Your mission is to secure competitive total cost of ownership (TCO), reliable logistics capacities, high-performing suppliers, and sustainable value creation across our global network.

Working as a strategic business partner, you will collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, Finance, and local Procurement teams worldwide to drive sourcing excellence, supplier performance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy Development

• Development and implementation of global and regional category strategies for logistics services
• Risk management and key supplier management
• Derivation of concrete sourcing roadmaps, objectives, and measures
• Identification of TCO, bundling, standardization, and network optimization opportunities
• Regular analysis of market, pricing, capacity, and regulatory developments

Strategic Sourcing and Negotiations

• Management of international tenders, RFQs, benchmarks, and service provider evaluations
• Negotiation and implementation of contracts and framework agreements
• Identification of alternative service providers, routes, and transportation solutions
• Implementation of global agreements in cooperation with local organizations

Service Provider and Risk Management

• Management and continuous development of an international service provider portfolio
• Performance monitoring based on relevant KPIs relating to cost, quality, delivery reliability, sustainability, and innovation
• Conducting business reviews and initiating improvement measures
• Ensuring capacity availability, delivery capability, and appropriate multi-sourcing strategies
• Assessment and mitigation of transportation, service provider, and supply chain risks; development of contingency plans

Stakeholder Management, Governance and Digitalization

• Strategic collaboration with Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, Finance, and local Procurement organizations
• Ensuring procurement governance, compliance, contract management, and transparent reporting
• Provide regular reporting on savings, TCO, supplier performance, market developments, and risks
• Support digitalization and process optimization initiatives within logistics procurement

• Degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation Management, or a comparable field
• Several years of experience in strategic procurement, category management, or international logistics management
• Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics markets, ideally road, ocean freight, and intermodal transportation
• Proven experience in international sourcing projects, commercial negotiations, and contract management
• Experience with Transporeon is an advantage
• Fluency in English and German, both written and spoken
• Any additional languages are considered an asset

A salary in line with the market is offered for this position, which is based on the specific qualifications and adequate professional experience.

By law, we are required to state a minimum salary. The minimum annual gross salary for this position is € 55.408,- according to the collective agreement (woodworking industry).
