OMV Group in Austria (Niederösterreich) seeks an experienced Geochemist to advance inorganic geochemistry and modelling across Exploration, Production and CCS programs. You will design geochemical models of rock-fluid interactions, plan laboratory experiments, and drive cross-functional projects in an international setting.

The candidate must hold a Master’s in Geochemistry and have 5+ years’ experience, with PHREEQC proficiency and strong English skills.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree in Geochemistry or closely related discipline.
• ≥5 years of professional geochemistry experience.
• Expertise in geochemical modelling software (PHREEQC).
• Hands-on lab experience with rock-fluid-gas interactions (autoclaves, core-floods).
• Proven project management experience including industry reports/publications.
• Excellent English; able to work in international teams; up to 1–2 weeks travel.

• Design, develop, and execute geochemical models to simulate rock-fluid-gas interactions and predict scaling behavior.
• Plan, manage, and perform advanced laboratory experiments using autoclaves and core-flood testing.
• Provide geochemical expertise for geothermal, CCS, and other subsurface projects.
• Interpret results and deliver high-quality reports and customer-ready recommendations.
• Lead R&D projects to expand geochemical capabilities and knowledge.
• Integrate geochemical findings with reservoir modelling and other subsurface disciplines.
• Oversee and improve IT and digital architecture for modelling activities.
• Act as central geochemistry expert and technical focal point across the organization.
• Lead interdisciplinary and international projects supporting innovation and energy transition.

• Act as the central geochemistry expert and technical focal point across the organization and laboratory environment.
• Lead and contribute to interdisciplinary and international projects, supporting innovation, technology development, and energy transition initiatives.

Your profile

• Master’s degree/Diploma in Geochemistry or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in geochemistry.
• Excellent expertise in geochemical modelling software and workflows (e.g., PHREEQC or equivalent).
• Hands‑on experience conducting laboratory experiments related to rock-fluid-gas interactions, including autoclave and core‑flood testing, supported by a strong background in hydrochemistry.
• Proven project management experience, including preparation of industry reports and scientific publications.
• Excellent English language skills, ability to work effectively in international and interdisciplinary teams, and willingness to undertake business travel of up to 1-2 weeks.

The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective agreement amounts to EUR 77.700,-- . Depending on skills and specific experience, over‑payment is possible.
