Job summary

AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in Vienna invites applicants for an Ingenious Partner role in the Center for Energy. You will maintain and operate our experimental infrastructure across PVD, electrochemical workstations, and electrolyzer test stands while supporting the design of new lab setups.

You will develop Python-based measurement software, handle procurement, and coordinate with suppliers, ensuring safe, well-documented operations in an international research environment.

Qualifications

• Completed technical degree in mechatronics, electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience building, operating and maintaining lab equipment is an advantage.
• Experience in CAD design and 3D printing; manufacturing and mechanical engineering.
• Strong Python programming for measurement automation and data processing.
• Structured, independent working style with hands-on troubleshooting.
• Strong team orientation and good communication in an international environment.
• Very good English; German language skills are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate experimental infrastructure (PVD, XRD, SEM, electrochemical workstations, electrolyzer test stands).
• Support the design and build-up of new experimental test stands.
• Develop and maintain Python-based measurement and automation software.
• Manage the procurement process for laboratory consumables, materials and components.
• Coordinate with external suppliers for repairs, calibrations, and upgrades; keep technical docs up to date.
• Contribute to a safe, well-organized laboratory and onboard new team members.
• Identify and resolve technical issues across hardware and software.
