Job summary

fiskaly GmbH is seeking an engineering leader to head one or more backend teams building the Go-based services behind our fiscalisation platform. You will manage 5–12 engineers, drive technical direction, and oversee delivery in a regulated, high‑SLA environment.

You will hire, coach, and retain talent while shaping multi‑quarter plans with a PM counterpart. A strong emphasis on reliability, collaboration, and effective communication is essential for success here.

Qualifications

• Engineering leadership experience overseeing software engineers.
• 4+ years managing software engineers as a manager, not just a tech lead.
• Track record delivering product outcomes through teams over multiple quarters.
• Experience launching and operating services at scale in a distributed system.
• Ability to challenge designs, balance trade-offs, and push back with substance.
• Strong written and verbal communication, able to explain technical topics to non‑experts.
• Comfort setting direction with incomplete information.
• Calm, direct under pressure and in postmortem conversations.

Responsibilities

• Hire against headcount plan; conduct 1:1s; grow engineers into senior/lead roles; sponsor promotions; address performance issues.
• Set technical direction with tech leads and senior engineers; manage architectural decisions and debt.
• Plan, estimate, deliver, and reflect with the team using flow and capacity signals.
• Translate ideas into multi‑quarter plans; surface risk early; align with Product and leadership.
• Ensure quality and reliability with QE and SRE; lead incident responses and postmortems.
• Coordinate cross‑team dependencies; share best practices with the wider engineering org.
