Job summary

Hitachi Rail Austria is seeking a Software Integrator to bring together cloud-based railway software in a high-availability, safety-critical environment. You will work with developers, architects and test engineers to ensure seamless integration of components across internal and external teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on work with distributed hardware, containerized deployments, and CI/CD pipelines. Fluency in German and English is required, with opportunities for flexible hybrid work

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Networking or related field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in software development, integration, or system engineering.
• Experience with distributed, fault-tolerant and embedded systems.
• Knowledge of Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
• Experience with OpenStack, Docker and containerized environments.
• Familiarity with GNU toolchain and scripting (Python, Bash, or Perl).
• Experience with networking technologies and protocols (IP, TCP, UDP).
• Comfort with modern CI/CD methodologies and automation pipelines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in German and English.

Responsibilities

• Integrating software components from internal and external suppliers.
• Building and deploying applications in containerized environments.
• Configuring networks and environments for integration and testing.
• Executing functional, integration and performance tests.
• Collaborating with developers and architects to resolve integration issues.
• Working hands-on with distributed hardware in lab settings.

• Creating and maintaining documentation for changes and incidents.
