Job summary

SOS Children’s Villages International is seeking a Chief Programme Officer (CPO) to join its Executive Board and drive the federation’s programme impact across multiple countries. The role oversees knowledge management, capacity building, and high-quality contract-based services that support member associations and CVI-run operations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree level, preferably in Public Policy, International Development, Economics, Strategic Management or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years progressive leadership experience, including at senior management level in an INGO / ICSO context
• 10 years leadership experience in delivering international development and/or humanitarian programmes across multiple geographic locations
• Excellent command of business English; working knowledge of French, Spanish, Arabic or German desirable
• Willingness to work from Austria as working location and travel up to 50%

Responsibilities

• Operationalizes and implements the overarching SOS CVI strategy as agreed by the International Board
• Lead knowledge management, innovation, evidence and enablement of member operations to scale programmes
• Coordinate strategic international multi-country programmes and advocacy initiatives as requested by members
• Oversee on-demand support and capacity building for members to ensure programmatic and operational delivery
• Maintain funding mechanisms through PSAs and ensure governance and safeguarding standards are met
• Oversee SOS CVI-run operations to maximize programme impact and quality across locations
• Develop and lead the federation's humanitarian strategy and coordinate rapid response efforts
