Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the D1X pipeline team. You will focus on back-end systems powering our email security products for large brands and act as a strong team player with a positive, high-energy attitude.

You’ll design and implement software, mentor junior engineers, lead design reviews, and drive reliable data pipelines with CI/CD and DataOps practices. This is a remote, full-time role open to candidates in Argentina.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a similar technical field.
• 8+ years of professional software or data engineering experience, with at least 4 years focused on cloud data platforms.
• Strong Python programming skills; proficiency in Java and Golang.
• Solid understanding of highly distributed architecture.
• Experience with secured APIs (REST, GraphQL, etc).
• Cloud computing experience (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, preferred.
• Experience with observability/monitoring tools (Grafana, Kibana).
• Strong experience with agile development teams.
• Understanding of performance tuning best practices.

Responsibilities

The Role

The Security Products and Services Group is the core of Proofpoint's success, and you will be contributing to our efforts to do what we do, even better. As a Staff Software Engineer on the D1X pipeline team, you will be focused on the back-end systems that power our industry leading products focused on email Security. These highly sophisticated systems are responsible for protecting the corporate email platform of some of the largest brands in the world. We are looking for someone who is an outstanding team player with a positive attitude and high energy, to help us deliver state-of-the-art products.

What you'll do

• Lead efforts to design, implement software and support systems using industry best-practices
• Serve as a technical leader and mentor -- conduct design reviews, guide junior engineers, and influence the team's technical roadmap.
• Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to identify and implement software solutions to business problems.
• Establish and enforce data quality standards -- implement validation frameworks, anomaly detection, and SLA-driven alerting to ensure data reliability.

What we're looking for
