Walmart is seeking a Software Engineer in Operations to learn Walmart's design solutions for delivering products to stores and customers. You will develop and own the monitoring framework that interfaces with various applications and manage multi-tenant solutions using automated deployment tools.

The role includes building apps with AI tools for deployment and monitoring, writing efficient code to automate tasks, and improving systems with analytics and reporting while supporting

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline.
  • 4 to 9+ years of relevant experience.
  • Alternative: degree in related area with at least 2 years experience in software engineering.

Salary: $90,000 - $180,000

Position Summary

As a Software Engineer in Operations, you will learn about Walmart’s innovative design solutions for delivering millions of products to stores and customers. You will develop and own the monitoring framework that interfaces with various applications, support new application features, launch services, and manage multi‑tenant solutions using automated deployment tools.

Responsibilities
  • Quickly learn capabilities of every part of the predictive analytics platform including the Data, Caching and Messaging tiers, application and systems infrastructure, and deployment architecture.
  • Build and maintain apps using available AI tools for deployment, monitoring and operations.
  • Develop efficient code to automate repetitive/manual tasks via available AI tools.
  • Continuously research existing systems to find more efficient/automated ways of preventing, minimizing or resolving issues.
  • Improve our systems and applications with monitoring, analytics and ad‑hoc reporting.
  • Work with business partners to provide accurate analytics that empower them to make correct business decisions.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues, taking proactive steps to prevent and necessary steps to resolve.
  • Escalate issues and work with other cross‑functional engineering team members and see them through to resolution.
  • Resolve day‑to‑day issues and relay updates to the team.
  • Attitude to thrive in a fun, fast‑paced start‑up‑like environment.
  • Provide on‑call support to help customers recover from impacting situations and to help build preventive solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
  • 4 to 9+ years of relevant experience.
  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and at least 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: At least 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Skills
  • Strong proficiency in Python and deep learning algorithms.
  • Ability to apply prompt‑engineering best practices, identify the right AI solutions for the task at hand, and validate the accuracy of the results.
  • SQL and No‑SQL database experience (MongoDB, MS SQL, Cassandra, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Elastic).
Experience
  • Experience working on data, caching and messaging tiers such as Kafka, Megacache, Couchbase, etc.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as OpenObserve, Grafana, Kibana.
  • Running infrastructure with public or private cloud environments and platforms like Azure, Kubernetes, Docker.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Retail industry experience, specifically warehouse management operations.
  • e‑Commerce experience.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area.
  • Experience implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility.
