Overview

About the Role As the Senior PM for Invoicing, you will own the vision and roadmap for Instacart's mission-critical platform, powering all orders and billions in transactions. Beyond building the financial backbone, this role also shapes how invoicing data comes to life for customers across checkout, order status, and receiptsensuring totals, discounts, fees, and taxes are presented with clarity, trust, and consistency. You will also partner with Engineering, Data Science, Finance, Compliance, and Retail teams to drive a unified, platform-first vision for invoicing that powers innovative commerce experiences across Instacart and our retailers, both online and in-store.

The Invoicing Platform team sits at the heart of Instacart’s Platform organization and owns the platform that powers 90%+ of all orders and billions in transactions annually. Responsibilities
  • Own the vision and roadmap for Instacart’s Invoicing Platform that powers 90%+ of all orders and billions in transactions annually.
  • Serve as the guardian of the customer experience for Totals UX — shaping how subtotals, discounts, fees, and taxes are displayed across checkout, order status, and receipts. Partner with surface-owning teams to ensure clarity, transparency, performance, and trust in every customer interaction.
  • Unify invoicing across online and in-store into a single modular platform that reduces complexity and accelerates innovation.
  • Safeguard compliance and accuracy in tax, fees, and other regulatory requirements — protecting financial integrity and customer trust.
  • Enable critical retailer integrations and settlements with accurate , timely invoicing data — partnering closely with R&D teams, Finance/Accounting, and Retail teams.
  • Provide source-of-truth financial data powering downstream reporting, tax logs, affordability metrics, and quarterly earnings.
  • Lead a cross-functional team (~15 engineers, DS, and Product Ops) to build scalable, extensible, high-performing systems.
  • Bridge technical depth and business impact — partner with engineering to shape APIs, data models, and integrations while aligning with company-wide priorities.
  • Communicate product strategy and progress with clarity — driving alignment and momentum across executives, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement in invoicing systems to support future customer, shopper, and retailer experiences.
Qualifications
  • Proven Product Leadership: 5+ years of product management experience, ideally owning complex, high-scale platforms or systems end-to-end (experience with financial, billing, transaction, or invoicing platforms a strong plus).
  • Platform & Technical Fluency: Comfortable working in deeply technical domains; able to partner with engineering on tradeoffs, APIs, data models, system integrations, and platform architecture.
  • Strategic Thinking & Roadmap Execution: Experience defining long-term platform strategy and roadmaps, balancing technical complexity, business impact, and scalability; proven track record of negotiating tradeoffs and delivering end-to-end execution.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence: Able to work effectively with Engineering, Product, Design, Data Science, Finance, Compliance, and external partners; experienced in managing and influencing multiple stakeholders to achieve alignment and business outcomes.
  • Customer-Centric UX Ownership: Opinionated about how invoicing data (totals, discounts, fees, taxes) is displayed across customer-facing surfaces; able to safeguard clarity, transparency, and trust for our customers while collaborating with surface-owning teams.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: Strong analytical skills; able to define success metrics, monitor accuracy, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional Communication: Able to translate complex technical and business concepts to both technical teams and senior leadership ; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Forward-Looking Platform Mindset: Experience unifying fragmented systems into scalable, modular platforms; able to anticipate future needs and build capabilities proactively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in fast-paced e-commerce, fintech, or startup environments.
  • Fluency in APIs, modern platform design principles, data models, and system integrations (with experience scoping and defining integrations between enterprise systems; financial or transaction platforms a plus).
  • Experience shaping multi-year platform strategies and influencing leadership alignment.
  • Experience working with financial systems, invoicing, billing, payments, or tax, including regulatory compliance and data integrity at scale.

Instacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work. This role is remote and the base pay range for a successful candidate is dependent on their permanent work location. Please review our Flex First remote work policy here. For Canadian based candidates, the base pay ranges for a successful candidate are listed below.

CAN $158,000 — $175,000 CAD
