Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Process Engineer to lead the integration of new products into the manufacturing stream in Sandton. You will bridge the gap between R&D and production, developing robust process designs, overseeing pilot trials, and supporting full-scale startup.

You will guide process development, scale-up, and NPI in a chemical environment, collaborating with R&D, manufacturing, and QA to ensure safe, efficient launches and ongoing optimization.

Qualifications

• Requires BEng or MEng in Chemical Engineering.
• 7+ years in process development, scale-up, and manufacturing support.
• Experience with NPIs in the chemical industry and interfacing RD & production.

Responsibilities

About the Role Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Process Engineer to lead the integration of new products into their manufacturing stream in Sandton . This role is critical for ensuring that new chemical formulations are efficiently and safely scaled up for commercial production. You will bridge the gap between R&D and manufacturing, developing robust process designs, overseeing pilot trials, and supporting full-scale production startup. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to drive innovation from concept to reality in a key strategic area for the company, working within a leading organization in the chemical sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the process development and scale-up of new chemical products from laboratory to commercial scale.
• Design, execute, and analyze pilot plant trials to validate process parameters and economics.
• Develop detailed process documentation, including P&IDs, equipment specifications, and operating procedures.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure successful product launches.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement necessary safety measures.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support during the initial production phases.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng in Chemical Engineering .
• 7+ years of experience in process development, scale-up, and manufacturing support.
• Proven expertise in new product introduction (NPI) within the chemical industry.
• Strong knowledge of reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and separation processes.
• Experience with process simulation and data analysis tools.
• Excellent project management and communication skills, particularly in interfacing between R&D and production in Sandton .
