Job summary

Philadelphia Gear, part of The Timken Company, is seeking a skilled Machinist to machine gear and power transmission parts in a high‑precision shop. You will read drawings, set up machines, select tooling, and optimize feeds and speeds to maximize throughput.

Candidates should have at least 10 years in machining, strong GD&T knowledge, and the ability to work safely. Must be US citizen or eligible for ITAR work, fluent in English, and capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years manufacturing experience in shop environment with turning/milling.
• Strong knowledge of tooling, inspection, and fixturing for low‑quantity precision parts.
• Ability to establish machining feeds, speeds, and depths of cut for production.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and GD&T.
• Proven math skills and ability to work with units, ratios, and percentages.
• Must read and speak English fluently; US citizen or eligible for ITAR work.
• High school degree or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Identify improvement opportunities in programming, methods, tooling, and fixturing.
• Read and understand G code.
• Assist and support machine set‑up and operation.
• Coordinate with teams to align capabilities and schedules.
• Assist with inspection and validation using basic equipment.
• Maintain safety, housekeeping, and quality workmanship.
