Job summary

Sourceability is seeking a Principal NLP Scientist to design, research, and improve NLP and Large Language Model capabilities for production business systems. You will lead the development of NLP solutions for named entity recognition, text classification, text generation, semantic search, information extraction, and other language‑driven automation use cases.

You will work with engineers, product managers, and annotation teams to define, build, evaluate, and continually improve NLP models;

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field.
• 8+ years of professional experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or NLP.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience building NLP models for production or near-production systems.
• Deep understanding of modern neural network architectures (RNN, CNN, Transformer-based, attention, embeddings, fine-tuning).
• Strong practical experience with NLP tasks (NER, classification, text generation, semantic similarity, information extraction).
• Strong experience with Large Language Models, including evaluation, prompt design, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation.
• Practical understanding of RAG, GraphRAG, knowledge graphs, embeddings, and hybrid retrieval in production LLMs.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python; PyTorch and Hugging Face Transformers.
• Experience with model serving formats (ONNX, etc).
• Data preparation, labeling workflows, annotation guidelines, and evaluation metrics.
• Proficiency with Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, Matplotlib.
• SQL databases and structured data; cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
• Ability to design experiments, define success metrics, compare model approaches, explain trade-offs.
• Strong written and verbal English communication; Agile experience; ability to provide technical leadership without formal management authority.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, research, and improvement of NLP/LLM capabilities for production systems.
• Define NLP solutions for NER, text classification, generation, semantic search, and information extraction.
• Work with engineers, data teams, and product managers to build and evaluate NLP models for automation workflows.
• Ensure NLP/LLM implementations are reliable, measurable, maintainable, and production-ready.
• Collaborate on data annotation strategy and model evaluation metrics.
• Prototype, test, and move successful models into production.
