Avenga, a global technology services firm, seeks a Senior Payment Systems Specialist in Buenos Aires (CABA) to join our Cards engineering team. You will design, develop, and optimize mainframe-based card processing systems powering merchant acquiring and settlement.

The role requires deep COBOL, DB2, CICS and JCL expertise in an IBM Mainframe environment, plus a strong grasp of card lifecycle, payments processing, and merchant settlement. Hybrid work; on-site three days a week.

Responsabilidades

• Design, code, test, and maintain high-volume COBOL, CICS, DB2 and JCL programs for card systems.

• Implement logic for merchant acquiring, payment aggregation, settlement and chargeback.
• Analyze DB2 performance and optimize batch and online workflows.
• Collaborate with analysts and tech teams to translate requirements to code.
• Troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and document systems.

In Buenos Aires (CABA) In the Banking & Financial Services industry, we are actively seeking a Senior Payment Systems Specialist to join our Cards engineering area. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mission-critical mainframe applications that power core card processing, merchant acquiring, settlement, and payment gateway architectures.

This position is hybrid and requires on-site work 3 times a week in CABA.

This is you

• Solid professional experience as a Mainframe Developer or Payment Systems Specialist in enterprise banking environment.
• Deep technical expertise in COBOL, DB2, CICS, and JCL within an IBM Mainframe ecosystem.
• Strong functional knowledge of the acquiring domain, including Merchant Payments, Aggregator Banks, and payment processors.
• Comprehensive understanding of Credit Card and Debit Card lifecycle processing, merchant settlement, and chargeback handling.
• Proven track record delivering software developments for card platforms and payment processing systems.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail when working with high-volume, transactional mainframe applications.

Nice-to-have skills:

• Experience with card brand integrations (Visa, Mastercard, or local processing networks).
• Knowledge of payment security standards, PCI-DSS compliance, and fraud management workflows.

This is your role

• Design, code, test, and maintain high-volume COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL programs supporting core card systems.
• Develop features and adaptations for the target Cards domain, ensuring optimal execution on IBM Mainframe platforms.
• Implement business logic for merchant acquiring, payment aggregation, transaction settlement, and chargeback processing.
• Analyze database performance (DB2) and optimize batch and online transactional workflows.
• Collaborate with functional analysts and technical teams to translate acquiring and processing requirements into robust code.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and maintain system documentation.
