Avenga in Córdoba, Argentina is seeking a Senior ILE COBOL / IBM i (AS/400) Developer to strengthen our core banking technology team. You will analyze, develop, and optimize legacy and modern interfaces on the IBM i platform, contributing to high-availability banking systems.

You will join a team of software engineers, DBAs, and architects focused on core banking solutions while advancing your career in a complex enterprise environment. Hybrid work arrangement is available (3 days on-site).

Formación

• 5+ years of experience with ILE COBOL on IBM i (AS/400) in enterprise environments.
• Experience in financial services or banking domain.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

In Córdoba, Argentina, within the Financial Services & Banking industry, we are actively seeking a Senior ILE COBOL / IBM i (AS/400) Developer to strengthen our core banking technology team. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining, evolving, and optimizing mission-critical software solutions that drive daily banking operations and ensure high availability for core financial services.

In your role, you'll become a vital member of a team of skilled software engineers, database specialists, and technical architects dedicated to core banking systems. Your primary responsibility will involve analyzing, developing, and enhancing legacy and modern application interfaces on the IBM i platform. This is you

Technical Expertise: Strong experience developing and maintaining applications using ILE COBOL on the IBM i (AS/400 / iSeries) platform.

Domain Knowledge: Solid experience working in complex enterprise environments, preferably within financial services, banking, or high-transactional organizations.

Core Skills: Solid understanding of IBM i architecture, native file handling, database management (DB2), application debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Methodologies & Quality: Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices, code reviews, and technical documentation standards.

Location & Availability: Based in Córdoba, Argentina (or surrounding areas) with availability to work in a hybrid model (3 days per week on-site) at the client's office.

Nice-to-have skills

• Experience with application modernization and continuous improvement initiatives within IBM i environments.
• Hands-on experience with automated job scheduling, batch processing, and MFT integrations.
• Knowledge of banking modules such as loans, deposits, or transaction processing.

This is your role

Develop, maintain, and support core business applications using ILE COBOL on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.

Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into efficient, scalable software solutions.

Perform enhancements, bug fixes, performance tuning, and maintenance activities for existing banking applications.

Conduct code reviews, ensure compliance with development standards, and write clear technical documentation.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve critical application issues in production and non-production environments.

Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, systems analysts, architects, and QA teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
