Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Legal Compliance Officer to lead and strengthen the compliance framework in Sandton. You will develop, implement, and monitor policies to ensure adherence to financial services regulations, data protection, and industry standards.

You will conduct internal audits, assess risks, train staff, and liaise with regulatory bodies. A relevant law degree and 5+ years in regulatory affairs are required, with a strong independent work ethos and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in legal compliance, regulatory affairs, or related role.
• Strong knowledge of South African legislation and industry regulations (financial services, data protection).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead compliance initiatives effectively.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's compliance program.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the company's policies and procedures are updated accordingly.
• Conduct internal audits and risk assessments to identify areas of non-compliance.
• Investigate compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.
