Senior Engineering Manager (South America)

About the Job: We are looking for an experienced Sr. Engineering Manager to join our growing team. In this position, you will lead multi-discipline engineers on one of our engineering teams - responsible for the technologies powering Nerdy's learning delivery systems, including the Live Learning Platform, the Learning Lab and StarCourses. In addition, you will both inform and grow Nerdy engineering culture, furthering our drive to be the best place on earth to be a technologist. Who You Are: You are an experienced Engineering Manager with a solid technical background. In this position, you will lead multi-discipline engineering teams - driving delivery, performance, and quality. You have a passion for excellence and a meticulous eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

  1. Be responsible for the operation and innovation of the technology platform for our consultative telesales and customer success operations through collaboration with product partners, business operations, and data science partners.
  2. Provide direction and oversight on technical architectures and systems design.
  3. Manage our engineering staff's daily feeding and care: championing objectives, monitoring progress, and removing blockers.
  4. Continually improve and optimize your teams' performance - the humans on your team and the systems they've created.
  5. Inspire, mentor, and advocate for the engineers entrusted to your care so they can reach their full potential.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  1. Proven track record in Engineering: 5+ years of successful leadership experience.
  2. At-scale technical architecture - you've designed and built complex yet performant systems.
  3. Strong AWS experience and knowledge including optimizing performance, security audits, and cost awareness.
  4. Experience managing I.T. teams (access requests, technical support & hardware management).
  5. Industry experience with security and vulnerability of cloud infrastructure (prevention, detection, and remediation).
  6. A strong desire to learn and a passion for educational technology.

Nice to have:

  1. GCP experience.
  2. Agile development (Scrum or Kanban).
  3. Compliance and audit experience: SOC2, GDPR, FERPA, CCPA, HIPAA.
