Job summary

Bechtel in Argentina seeks a Senior Civil Engineer (Field Manager) for the San Juan project. The role focuses on permits management, environmental compliance, and cross-disciplinary coordination to ensure design and construction align with regulatory requirements.

Level 1/2 experience paths are described, with emphasis on mining, energy or infrastructure projects in Argentina. Bilingual Spanish/English and strong documentation skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineer degree and ten years of work-related experience in substation and Line construction.
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and keep updated the project permits matrix, identifying competent body, submission requirements, legal deadlines and actual processing deadlines.
• Prepare, review and submit the Environmental Impact Report and its biennial updates, along with the supporting technical documentation required by the provincial mining authority.
• Managing the associated sectoral permits: water use and concession, effluent dumping, emissions into the atmosphere, hazardous waste management, soil movement, intervention of native vegetation and transport of hazardous substances.
• Maintaining technical dialogue with provincial and national enforcement authorities, responding to observations, requests for additional information and audits.
• Timely alert the permits that constitute a critical route and propose sequencing alternatives when a regulatory deadline compromises the schedule.
