DEPT® is seeking a flexible Data Engineer in Buenos Aires to translate business goals into data solutions. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in programming and data management tools, as well as a background in cloud environments like AWS or GCP. • 3+ years in core programming fundamentals and debugging.
• 2+ years in Data Management Tools and pipeline management.
• Professional software and consulting experience essential.

The Role

We are looking for a well‑rounded, flexible Data Engineer with an interest in translating business goals into concrete solutions. You have been part of multiple teams, demonstrated initiative, and can explain in technical detail what you did to help. Ideally you’ve worked with at least one devops team, and at least one flavor of agile. Our pragmatic engineering approach makes data work for the business.

What you’ll bring

• Ability to realign client expectations when challenges arise (delays, change in scope, etc.)
• Proactively and independently research knowledge needed to perform tasks (know when to ask for help and avoid spending time on already‑solved issues)
• Identify potential technical solutions that apply to an internal/client situation (connect technical solutions to business needs)
• Enjoy working with peers or new hires to help them understand and apply best practices
• Prioritize multiple tasks and communicate overall project status
• Participate in technical design of systems, schemas, or pipelines and offer sound guidance

What we’re looking for

• 3+ years of experience in core programming fundamentals, modern tools (IDEs, CLI, Git/version control), and basic debugging
  • Scripting languages like Python, Ruby
  • Compiled languages like Java, Scala, C++
  • MongoDB + Kafka are nice to have
  • Source Control Systems
• 2+ years of experience in Data Management Tools
  • Pipeline management tools like Airflow or Luigi, and/or enterprise ETL tools like Informatica, SSIS or Datastage
  • Devops tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker
  • Database Management Systems like BigQuery, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server, Redshift
• 2+ years of discovery and assessment of a client’s portfolio, tools, and applications
• 2+ years of professional software and consulting experience
• Experience working in cloud environments (AWS or GCP) is a plus
• Experience with Unix‑based OSes is a plus
