Descripción del empleo

We are pioneers at heart. What this means, is that we are always leaning forward, thinking of what we can create tomorrow that does not exist today. We were born digital and we are a new model of agency, with a deep skillset in tech and marketing. That’s why we hire curious, self-driven, talented people who never stop innovating.

Our culture is big enough to cope and small enough to care. Meaning, that with people across 20+ countries, we’re big enough to provide you with the best tools, global opportunities, and benefits that help you thrive. While acting small by investing in you, your growth, your team, and giving you the autonomy to solve our clients' problems, no matter where you are in the world.

WHAT THE DATA ENGINEER TEAM DOES:

The Data & Engineering team provides technology solutions by architecting and developing enterprise systems using a variety of programming languages, tools, and platforms. This can range from building data platforms, data warehouses and web applications, to implementing reporting platforms. We work in small teams, own the projects that we work on, and have direct input into the business decisions of our clients.

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a well-rounded, flexible Data Engineer in Argentina or in Uruguay with an interest in translating business goals into concrete solutions. You’ve been part of more than one team, you’ve demonstrated initiative on most of your projects, and you can tell us in technical detail what you did to help. Ideally you’ve worked with at least one devops team, and in at least one flavor of agile. If you haven’t we won’t hold that against you. At DEPT, we pride ourselves on our pragmatic, engineering approach to making data work for the business.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Ability to realign client expectations when challenges arise (delays, change in scope, etc.)
  • Proactively, and independently able to research knowledge needed to perform tasks (i.e., knows when to ask for help, and doesn't spend significant time on already-solved issues)
  • You have the ability to identify potential technical solutions that apply to an internal/client situation (i.e., ability to connect technical solutions to a business need).
  • You enjoy working with peers / new hires to help them understand and apply best practices
  • You can prioritize multiple tasks and communicate the overall status of a project.
  • You enjoy participating in technical design of systems, schemas, or pipelines and offer sound guidance

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • 3+ years of experience in core programming fundamentals, modern tools (IDEs, CLI, Git/version control), and basic debugging:
    • - Scripting languages like Python, Ruby
    • Compiled languages like Java, Scala, C++
    • Source Control Systems
  • 3+ years of experience in Data Management Tools:
    • Pipeline management tools like Airflow
    • Devops tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker
    • Database Management Systems like BigQuery, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, mySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server, Redshift
  • Expertise with SQL and experience with dbt
  • 3+ years of discovery and assessment of a client’s portfolio, tools, and applications
  • 2+ years of professional software and consulting experience
  • Experience working in the AWS cloud environments
  • Experience with Unix-based OSes a plus!
  • You will have to communicate with your team members abroad, therefore fluency in English and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are a must for this role

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

  • We enjoy spending time together, working closely with other local colleagues, and getting to know one another. Our Buenos Aires offices (Villa Crespo & Mar del Plata) are fully equipped with refreshments and great common spaces!
  • Premium healthcare through OSDE for the employee and their immediate family members
  • NUBI prepaid card with a monthly allowance for grocery purchases
  • Monthly reimbursements for Wi-Fi/electricity expenses
  • Monthly reimbursements for training/English classes
  • 100% covered “Plant Total” membership at Sportclub
  • A flexible vacation policy
