Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Senior/Lead DevOps Engineer to deploy and operate a new Kubernetes-based cloud environment on AWS for a short-term project. The role demands 5+ years in DevOps, strong Kubernetes expertise, and hands-on AWS deployment experience.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, reliable deployments, build GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and establish GitOps patterns with Argo CD. Remote-friendly, but primarily on-site engagement with flexible options.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Engineering.
• 4+ years deploying Kubernetes in production.
• Experience deploying AWS-hosted applications.
• Experience leading technical implementation with minimal supervision.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, and Helm.
• Experience with Argo CD and Service Mesh technologies.
• Experience with ingress controllers, networking, storage, and cluster operations.
• Experience with AWS services: VPC, EC2, EKS, IAM, Route 53, ALB/NLB, RDS, CloudWatch, S3, Secrets Manager, Systems Manager Parameter Store.
• Experience with GitLab, GitLab CI/CD, GitOps, IaC, and Terraform.
• Experience with Bash, Python, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Lead deployment of a new cloud environment within AWS or another provider.
• Ensure deployments follow security, reliability, and operational best practices.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
• Deploy and manage workloads on Kubernetes platforms.
• Troubleshoot cluster, networking, ingress, storage, and workload issues.
• Support application modernization and containerization efforts.
• Implement platform standards and operational guardrails.
• Design and enhance GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement deployment automation and release workflows.
• Establish GitOps deployment patterns with Argo CD.
• Improve traceability, repeatability, and deployment reliability.
• Develop infrastructure with Terraform and related tooling.
• Reduce manual deployment through automation.
• Configure monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards.
• Support production readiness reviews and runbooks.
• Establish reliability practices and incident response procedures.
• Identify bottlenecks and performance issues across cloud/K8s.
• Evaluate deployment practices and operational processes.
• Document platform architecture and procedures.
• Produce runbooks and knowledge-transfer docs.
