Job summary

Planetary Scale is hiring a Senior Accountant to serve multiple climate-tech client companies, handling month-end closes, reconciliations, and financial reporting. You will work with engagement leads, founders, and a peer accountant, using QuickBooks Online or Xero and related tools, while ensuring accurate, timely financial data for decision‑making.

You’ll also oversee payables/receivables, payroll where needed, and occasional tax filings, collaborating with audits and investor diligence.

Qualifications

• Experience from a leading accounting firm and US GAAP proficiency.
• CPA or equivalent qualification is expected.
• Clear English communication and ability to overlap US hours.
• Interest or experience in climate/energy transition is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close for multiple client companies, including reconciliations, accruals, prepaid and fixed-asset schedules, and financial statements.
• Manage payables/receivables, invoicing, and collections to ensure timely payments and cash flow.
• Run payroll and handle filings like taxes where applicable.
• Apply revenue recognition, grants, venture debt, and multi-currency considerations with sound judgment.
• Support audits and investor diligence, preparing schedules and responses.
• Identify improvements to close processes and develop automation where possible.
