FullStack is seeking a Principal SQL Database Administrator to join client teams remotely across Latin America. You will administer Microsoft SQL Server environments at scale, across 1,000+ databases, and drive performance optimization with proactive tuning.

This role requires 8+ years of DBA experience, a four-year degree, and advanced English. You’ll work with Agile teams and coordinate overlapping Canadian business hours as needed, delivering reliable database health and governance.

• 8+ years of professional Database Administration experience.
• Advanced English is required.

• Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server at significant scale (1,000+ databases).
• Deep expertise in SQL Server administration within Windows-hosted environments.
• Strong experience with SQL Server performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL Server indexing strategies and index optimization.
• Strong experience analyzing execution plans, waits, blocking, locking, and other performance indicators.
• Proven ability to identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks proactively.
• Strong understanding of DBA maintenance and health management.
• Establishing database administration standards and best practices in evolving environments.
• Root-cause analysis of production database issues.
• Consultative mindset to challenge ineffective approaches.
• Ability to operate at scale across many databases with attention to operational detail.
• Ownership mentality for health and performance of large environments.
• Overlap with Canadian business hours (Vancouver/Toronto).
• Agile/Scrum experience.
• Experience with large, complex systems.
• Extreme ownership over work.

The Opportunity

Join our talent network and connect with U.S. clients for flexible, project-based development work as a Principal SQL Database Administrator.

You will integrate directly into our client's team and work alongside their existing designers and engineers on a daily basis.

What We're Looking For

8+ years of professional Database Administration experience.

Advanced English is required.

Successful completion of a four-year college degree is required.

Demonstrated experience administering and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server at significant scale, ideally across 1,000+ databases or an equivalent enterprise environment.

Deep expertise in SQL Server administration within Windows-hosted environments.

Strong experience with SQL Server performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization.

Advanced knowledge of SQL Server indexing strategies and index optimization.

Strong experience analyzing execution plans, query performance, waits, blocking, locking, and other SQL Server performance indicators.

Proven ability to identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks proactively.

Strong understanding of SQL Server maintenance and ongoing database health management.

Demonstrated ability to establish database administration standards, procedures, and best practices in environments where formal DBA processes may not yet exist.

Proven experience troubleshooting complex production database issues and determining root causes.

Consultative mindset with the confidence to challenge ineffective approaches and recommend better technical solutions.

Ability to operate at scale, prioritizing issues and improvements across a large number of databases without losing attention to operational detail.

Strong ownership mentality, with the ability to independently manage the health and performance of a large database environment.

Availability to work with regular overlap during Canadian business hours, aligned with either Vancouver/Pacific Time or Toronto/Eastern Time.

Ability to work through new and difficult issues and contribute to libraries as needed.

Ability to create and maintain continuous integration and delivery of applications.

Forensic attention to detail.

A positive mindset and a can-do attitude.

Experience working on Agile / Scrum teams.

Meaningful experience working on large, complex systems.
