Homeland Language Services is hiring in-person Portuguese - English simultaneous interpreters for Buenos Aires, Argentina. The role requires certified community interpreters with 2+ years of experience in English-Portuguese and Portuguese-English interpretation, including simultaneous, consecutive, and whisper modes.

Flexibility to travel locally is important, with engagement on a contract basis (1099/W-BEN8) and a flexible schedule to accept or decline jobs via mobile access.

We are hiring in-person PORTUGUESE - ENGLISH SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETERS (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

We are seeking highly skilled simultaneous interpreters proficient in both languages for various conferences, symposiums, meetings, and work sessions. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in simultaneous and consecutive interpretation techniques, along with a deep understanding of professional ethics and responsibility in interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Provide simultaneous and consecutive interpretation services from English to Portuguese and vice versa in a variety of settings, including conferences, meetings, and other professional gatherings.
• Quickly and accurately comprehend and analyze written and oral messages in both languages and convey them orally with precision.
• Adhere to professional ethics and responsibilities inherent in the field of interpretation.
• Collaborate with research groups focusing on improving professional practices related to human well-being, transparent communication, information quality, and other relevant areas.

Qualifications

• Certification as a community interpreter, demonstrating proficiency in English and Portuguese, and completing at least a 40-hour community interpreting training program.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in community interpretation, with a proven track record of excellence.
• Proficiency in simultaneous, consecutive, and whisper interpretation techniques.
• Experience and proficiency in both English to Portuguese and Portuguese to English interpretation.
• Mobility to travel close by, as well as navigate various job sites.
• Ability to provide both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation accurately and effectively.
• Sensitivity to culturally sensitive situations, perspectives, and phrases, and the ability to respond appropriately.
