Job summary

Voluntary Action Center of Northern Illinois is seeking a compassionate and organized Support Specialist to join our Meals on Wheels team in Peru, IL. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.

to 4:00 p.m., and supports seniors and community members through intake, reassessments, and program coordination. The position involves wait-list management, connection to resources, meal operations support, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in human services or related field.
• Two or more years of social service, nonprofit, community-based, or nutrition program experience preferred.
• Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and transport requirements including Illinois driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Manage Meals on Wheels wait list, intake, reassessments, client files, and database updates.
• Help clients connect with programs, resources, and services.
• Support meals and congregate meal operations, including meal counts and volunteer coordination.
• Maintain Time and Temperature Logs and other documentation.
• Assist with reports, surveys, and general Nutrition team support.
