How will you contribute to our magical experience?

This team manages VOD content management tools across Disney+ and Hulu, monitoring incoming content from over 400 partners, and overseeing tools and workflows for quality control and review of the entire content library.

The Lead Software Engineer will be responsible for:

• Leading a team of engineers managing all VOD content across Disney’s streaming platforms.
• Designing and building robust software applications, utilizing engineering and machine learning expertise for high-performance solutions.
• Performing analysis and building applications to ensure a successful content delivery experience for end users.
• Collaborating with product and engineering teams to identify opportunities, impacts, and technical requirements.
• Serving as a technical leader, setting best practices and leading architectural discussions.
• Mentoring and providing career growth opportunities for team members.
• Prioritizing tasks to deliver high-value initiatives and mitigating risks.
• Developing web applications for managing live and linear scheduling for DTC services.
• Managing AWS infrastructure supporting a microservice ecosystem.
• Improving system scale and throughput for high concurrency handling.
• Fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
• Building quality products.
• Providing on-call support as needed.

What we need from you:

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java or similar object-oriented language.
• Advanced English skills.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS), source control (Git), CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Docker) – a plus.
• Knowledge of web standards, async programming, messaging technologies like Kafka, Kinesis, or SQS – a plus.
