Job summary

EPAM Systems seeks a Lead JavaScript Engineer to drive the technical direction and hands-on development of large-scale React Native applications with an iOS-first approach before Android expansion. You will mentor the team, guide architecture decisions, and ensure delivery quality across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience leading mobile projects.
• Experience with React Native and Expo in production.

• CI/CD practices for mobile releases.
• Excellent communication and English (B2).

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on development of mobile apps while shaping technical strategy for iOS-first delivery and Android follow-up.
• Establish engineering standards, coding guidelines, and design patterns for the mobile team.
• Design and implement security, scalability, and integration solutions covering authentication, CMS, and personalization.
• Guide technical decisions and conduct code/architecture reviews to maintain consistency and quality.
• Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to turn requirements into practical solutions.
• Contribute to technical roadmaps that align engineering decisions with business objectives.
• Evaluate and select tools, libraries, and frameworks that support long-term maintainability.
• Coach and mentor engineers, promoting best engineering practices throughout the team.
• Create architecture diagrams, integration flows, and technical documentation.
• Spot risks, dependencies, and technical debt, then develop mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to CI/CD strategy and manage releases for mobile applications.

Requirements

• 5+ years of overall software engineering experience
• Proven experience in a lead or senior engineering role on mobile projects
• Solid leadership abilities in guiding technical decisions and mentoring engineers
• Background working on enterprise-scale applications with alignment across cross-functional stakeholders
• Hands-on experience with React Native and Expo in production mobile apps
• Strong command of TypeScript and familiarity with the modern JavaScript ecosystem
• Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS, and scalable backend integrations
• Solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns, design principles, and best practices
• Experience with authentication and security using Okta or comparable identity providers
• Skilled in API development and integrations between mobile apps, backends, and third-party services
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices for mobile release management and pipeline design
• Strong communication skills for converting business requirements into technical solutions
• Upper-Intermediate English proficiency (B2)

Nice to have

• Experience with Android SDK and native module integration
• Hands-on experience implementing mobile CI/CD for enterprise-level releases
• Familiarity with cloud platforms other than AWS
• Background in healthcare, medical devices, or MedTech industries
• Experience with Okta customer identity solutions
