About the role:

The Sr. Fraud Operations Analyst is a key member of the Fraud team responsible for executing and leading complex product abuse and fraud investigations. They will independently handle fraud investigations, identify vulnerabilities, design cross-team procedures, and train Support teams on verification processes. The ideal candidate will have experience with technical product investigations, including ticket/escalation management, data analysis, and source-code review. This role requires innovative thinking, effective communication, and strong prioritization skills.

Daily Responsibilities:

  1. Handling fraud escalations and investigations, including customer-reported events like account takeovers, anomalous activities, and abuse reports.
  2. Reviewing, classifying, and responding to chargebacks and fraud-related events.
  3. Investigating volumetric/anomaly alerts generated by Apollo’s fraud detection systems.
  4. Performing attribution analysis of fraud events through data analysis using SQL/Python.
  5. Managing external brand abuse cases and takedown requests.
  6. Developing fraud event classification and retroactive analysis processes across multiple teams.
  7. Identifying and integrating key data sources to improve investigation processes.
  8. Conducting root-cause analysis of fraud vulnerabilities and collaborating with Product/Engineering teams for remediation.
  9. Monitoring external fraud actor activity using open-source intelligence techniques.
  10. Training customer-facing teams on verification and identification methodologies.
  11. Designing low-friction KYB/KYC and asynchronous verification procedures.
  12. Leading and mentoring junior Fraud Analysts and non-expert team members.
  13. Collaborating regularly with Support staff on customer issues.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in fraud investigations or related operations roles.
  • Strong SQL querying skills (e.g., inner/outer joins, CTEs); experience with MongoDB is a plus.
  • Knowledge of chargebacks, disputes, ACH processes, and their full lifecycle.
  • Experience with rules-based fraud detection tools (Stripe Radar, Signified, etc.), without vendor-specific requirements.
  • Proven ability to create, document, and train operational processes for fraud or customer support teams.
  • Curious and investigative mindset, skilled at analyzing logs, messages, and evidence to understand attacker behavior.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and prioritize effectively.
  • Positive attitude, detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to learn.
  • Comfortable working remotely with self-discipline.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
